Mandy Shoger started and grew her ceramics practice in Seattle, but now lives and works in Twisp, in the Methow Valley, North Central Washington, near the foothills of the North Cascades. Her studio and storefront can be found on the Twispworks Campus, in building #9.
Her pottery is thrown on the wheel and is made from a dark colored stoneware clay body. The dark clay body color is a prominent feature in her design aesthetic, and she likes to play with contrasts in her work and glazing process - dark vs. light, rough vs. smooth, modern vs. rustic. Her pieces are eye-catching but functional, suitable for everyday use at home.
In addition to cups, she enjoys making dinnerware sets for individuals as well as larger serving pieces. She looks forward to growing her practice in her new studio this next year, drawing inspiration from the mountains, rivers and forests that surround her workspace!
